I began my "cool season" garden about one month ago in mid-april. Normally, I like to get the peas and lettuces in by mid-march but I was late for whatever reason (baby, toddler, two older boys in sports -take your pick).
Luckily everything seems to be producing whole-heartedly.
{blueberry plants with tons of flowers!}

{Lettuce bed - front: mesclun mix, mid: romaine, third: bon vivant mix, back: peas}

{Row covered Box - front: spinach, middle: rainbow chard, back: broccoli}

{over wintered parsley, cilantro, and thyme}

{My own seedlings hardening off - tomato, peppers, and basil}

{Early May view of the backyard garden}

Linking to Tuesday Garden Party - check out other fabulous gardens - I sure do!

Everything looks so great and healthy! I love to see other people's gardens. LOVE IT. So inspiring.
Hey Shannan! Saw your question over on my blog and thought I'd answer it over here. I live in north Louisiana. And even though it has been a bit cooler right now than normal, it's still not really cold. Right now, my outdoor thermometer reads 75 degrees at 11:30 PM. I think we got up in the high eighties today. It has been pretty cool the past few days though.
We have to plant so much earlier than the northern states (even the northern southern states) because our summers get so incredibly hot that very few things grow well. This summer when you have a beautiful lush garden, my garden will look like a burned up mess...with the exception of okra and southern peas. Love your garden posts. :0)
My cool-weather garden was late too - our lettuce and peas are really just getting going. Hopefully it won't get too hot too quickly. ;-)
We are just trying to dry out...I think we are in the flood zone this year. 56 inches of snow in the past 2 weeks...wait...MAy? YEP! snow in the mountains, RAIN in the valley, and no garden yet. sigh..
Shannan, your cool weather crops are looking great!! Looks like that spinach is doing well for you!! Yeah!!
