Friday = FunDay

As I sit to write this post, I've sent my late boys off to school again. Jackson procrastinated on his homework and spent the morning trying to finish up his worksheet on adding suffixes to words ending in 'ies' and 'ing'. Oh how I was tempted to just shout out - "change 'flip' to 'flipping' and add 'you are goING to be flippING late to school again." But I didn't.

On other happy news, my wonderful friends here in Salem threw me a baby shower for baby #4. My best bud Dawn and her sister in law - my other fav friend Jamie - assembled a chic outdoor girly shower in my backyard. My mom flew up, my mother in law and sister in law drove down and all of my most favorite people (my neighbors) in Salem came over. The weather was perfect - I was in my favorite place in the whole world (my house and garden) and it will remain a cherished memory!

This is funny - I'm in this mommy small group that meets weekly. There's 7 of us in the group. About one month after we started meeting, four of us announced our pregnancies. And we're all within one month of each other! First Dawn, then two weeks later is Tia, then two weeks later is me, then one week later is Jamie. Three girls and one boy. The other funny thing. Dawn's first baby, Tia's second baby, Jamie's third baby, and my fourth baby. God is so good that He gave me these group of mommy friends! And of course I missed the other three members of our group but they had mommy matters to attend.

post script note: I published this post on Saturday - somehow I forgot about writing this and it sat on my computer all day yesterday - but just pretend you're reading this on Friday!

The final final stretch and still very very tired

Okay, I'm not in the final final stretch of this pregnancy - I so wish I was. In fact, let me share last night's dream with you. I dreamed I was in a car accident - but it was really minor. As the ambulance attendants were checking me out - my water broke and I went into labor. It was a wonderful dream and I can't hide the fact that I was really disappointed when I woke up this morning still nine months pregnant. I'm just approaching the final stretch - as in - I just clicked over to 35 weeks pregnant yesterday which means 5 weeks to go! Not that much time to go, but when you are carrying around 40 extra pounds - 5 weeks is an eternity. Those who know me in real life know that I am petite - a small 5'4" and I seriously have maybe 2-3 inches between my lower rib cage and my hip bone. All of my babies tend to be 8+ pounds and I gain a lot of weight in pregnancy, so you can imagine how huge as a house I am. Not to worry - the weight usually comes off within the first year and I'm back to running full speed in usually no time - but man oh man - this time of my pregnancy really kills me.
Starting Thursday of last week, I jammed back every single day with activities. The days were fun and passed quickly, but come Mon and Tues my body said, "NO MORE" and promptly shut down on me. Literally every single time I sat down I fell asleep. I think I took 5 naps yesterday and went to bed at 9:30pm and slept a solid 9 hours.
Since I had no choice but to obey my shut-down body status, I decided to pick up the book series that my older boys are really into these days - the Percy Jackson books. I can be a fan of youth fiction - especially if it is written well (aka Harry Potter, Twilight, Golden Compass). I started the Lightening Thief on Monday and finished last night during commercial breaks of American Idol. Pretty good. Not complex. I can see why my boys enjoy it and now I'm sending my husband to Costco this morning to buy the rest of the books in the series so I can catch up to Jackson who is on this book.

Since I hope my body will give me a break from the tiredness, I'm hoping to finish up a few projects I've had on the docket for a few weeks. But then again, if Jer comes home with The Sea of Monsters, my coffee table will continue to sit out in the garage in its half-sanded state. Good youth fiction trumps household projects any day.

Just when I feel like a really great mom

Hi everyone -

Wow - that tired spell I blogged about 3 WEEKS AGO really lasted, didn't it? Happy to report that the tiredness has not only increased, but now I find myself huffing and puffing and heart beating a lot faster than it is usually is. Isn't the last part of pregnancy fun?

Anyway, I received this email today in my inbox from Jackson's teacher: "Jackson is going to be late tomorrow. He wants to include a late slip in his card (since he is late a lot) to the school secretary for Secretary's Day. I gave him permission."

Y'all, for the record, I thought my boys were always on time to school - they certainly leave the house early enough. I don't know why - but it really knocked me off any high horse to hear that my kid is always the late kid. Of course, maybe the title of "late kid" is better than the title of "the stinky kid" or "the kid that nobody wants to have over to their house because he is a little sh*t". But still.....

Growth Week

Holy Cow have I been tired. Seriously. Bone numbing tired. So tired, in fact, that as I trudge through the day, my heart rate is up and I get sweaty if I try to do anything really strenuous - like vacuum two rooms of carpet. This whole cooking a human being inside my body biz is starting to get a bit taxing. My friend says that when you feel this way the baby is having a "growth week". Well, she sure is doing something because I'm freakin' tired.

p.s. did I mention I am tired?
